Hello, I'm Loneliness

Hello. I am a feeling called Loneliness. Sometimes I feel like a quiet, empty space inside you. I might visit when you are not picked for a game at recess or when your best friend cannot come over to play. I am the feeling of being all by yourself, even if other people are around.

I visited a boy named Leo when his best friend moved away. At school, Leo sat by himself, and I sat right there with him. He felt heavy and quiet. But then, Leo remembered he loved to draw. He took out his notebook and created amazing superheroes. Soon, a girl named Maya saw his drawings and asked about them. As Leo started talking to his new friend, I started to get smaller and smaller. Sometimes, when I visit, it’s a chance to discover something wonderful about yourself that you can share with others. I learned that even though I can feel sad, I can also show you how to find new friends, starting with the wonderful friend you have in yourself.
