The Vampire Cough

Sometimes, a little tickle happens in my throat, and I know a cough is coming. To keep my friends healthy, I do the 'vampire cough' into my elbow. This helps stop tiny germs from flying out and making someone else feel sick.

When I feel the cough coming, I quickly bend my arm and tuck my nose and mouth right into the inside of my elbow, like a vampire hiding in a cape. If I have a tissue, I can cough into that instead, and then I throw it right in the trash can. This way, the germs go into my elbow or the tissue, not on my hands or in the air.

When I cover my cough, I am being a good friend by not sharing my germs. This helps everyone at school and at home stay healthy. When we are all healthy, we can keep playing together.
