I am learning how to keep my body safe with fire safety. I know that some things in my house are very hot. The stove can be hot, and a candle is hot. If I touch them, they can hurt me, so I stay away. If I see matches or a lighter, I know not to touch them. I tell a grown-up right away.
I listen for the smoke alarm. It makes a loud 'Beep! Beep! Beep!' sound. If I hear it, or if I see or smell smoke, I know it is time to get out of the house. I go tell a grown-up. I also learned what to do if fire gets on my clothes. First, I must STOP running. Next, I DROP to the ground and cover my face with my hands. Then, I ROLL back and forth until the fire is out.
Knowing these fire safety rules is very important. It helps me protect myself and my family. When I stay away from hot things and know what to do if there is a fire, I am being a helper. This makes my home a safer place for everyone.
