My Body's Super Fuel

I like to think about how a plant needs water to grow tall or a car needs gas to go. My body is the same, but its special fuel is water! Drinking water, or staying hydrated, gives my body the power it needs to run, play, and think all day long.

When I drink enough water, I help my body do amazing things. Water helps my muscles feel strong so I can run my fastest at recess. It also helps my brain focus on learning new things in class. If I forget to drink water, I might feel tired and slow, but staying hydrated keeps my energy up!

Here is how I make sure to drink enough water. I start my day with a glass of water right after I wake up. I have a cool water bottle that I fill up and bring to school, and I keep it on my desk to take sips. At lunch, I drink more water with my food and then refill my bottle for the afternoon. It's easy to remember when it's part of my routine.

My body has a special way of telling me it needs water: it makes me feel thirsty. When my mouth feels a little dry, that's my body saying, 'Time for a drink!' It's extra important to drink when it's hot outside or after I've been running and playing hard, because my body uses up more water then.

Drinking water every day is one of the easiest ways to be kind to my body. It helps me stay healthy, gives me the energy to have fun with my friends, and keeps my brain ready to learn. A hydrated body is a happy and healthy body.
