My Food Adventure
I think of trying new foods as being an explorer, but for my mouth. My body needs lots of different kinds of foods to grow strong and have the energy to play, just like a car needs fuel to go. Sometimes new foods can look, smell, or feel different from what I'm used to, and that’s the start of a fun adventure.
To be a food explorer, first, I start with just one small piece on my plate; I don't need a lot. Next, I look at the new food closely. I see if it is bumpy like a raspberry or smooth like a slice of mango. Then, I give it a little sniff to see what it smells like. Finally, I take a tiny 'explorer bite' to see what it tastes like. It's okay if I don't love it right away, because the most important part is being brave enough to try.
When I try new foods, I might discover something super yummy that becomes my new favorite snack. If I only eat the same things, I could miss out on delicious foods that help my body. Every new food I try gives my body different vitamins. These vitamins help me run faster, jump higher, and think better at school.
Being a food explorer makes my mealtimes more exciting and helps me grow up healthy and strong. It also makes it easier for me to eat at a friend's house or at a party, because I'll be ready to try the fun foods they have. Every new food I try is a win for my body.
