Hello. I am a tiny aphid. I am so small, like a little green speck on a big, juicy leaf. I live in a big garden full of tasty plants. My whole world is a green leaf, and it is the best home. I am never alone because I have many, many brothers and sisters right here with me. We look like a tiny green family living on our favorite plant.
My favorite food is the sweet juice that is deep inside the plants. It is like a yummy drink made just for me. To get the juice, I use my special mouth, which works just like a little straw. I poke my straw into the leaf and sip, sip, sip the sweet juice all day long. I want to tell you a secret. After I finish my drink, a tiny drop of sweet liquid comes out of my body. This special drop is called 'honeydew.' It is a super sweet treat that other bugs in the garden love to eat.
I have many garden friends who visit me. The busy ants are my best friends. They climb up the plant to drink my sweet honeydew. In return for the yummy treat, they keep me safe from bigger bugs. But some animals, like the pretty ladybugs, think I am a yummy snack. That is okay because being food for others is my special job in our big garden family. I help make sure everyone in the garden has food so they can stay healthy and strong.
