The story

The Rainbow Dancer of the Forest

Hello. I am a Bird-of-Paradise. My home is a big, green rainforest. A long, long time ago, in the year 1522, people from far away first heard stories about me. I live way up high in the tippy-tops of the trees. My home is full of tall, tall trees and so many bright flowers. I love to hear my friends chirping and singing all day long. It is a happy, noisy, wonderful place to live. I love my home in the rainforest.

I have something very special. I have fancy, fancy feathers. My feathers are so colorful. They look just like a rainbow in the sky. I have red feathers, blue feathers, and bright yellow feathers. They are so pretty. When I want to show my friends how strong and amazing I am, I do a special dance. I puff up my feathers and wiggle all around. I hop from branch to branch. Wiggle, wiggle, hop, hop. My dance is a happy dance. It makes my rainbow feathers shine in the sun for everyone to see.

I also have a very important job in my rainforest home. I am a helper. Do you know how I help? I love to eat yummy, sweet fruits that grow on the trees. When I fly from one tree to another, I carry the little seeds from the fruit with me. The seeds fall to the ground, and soon, new trees begin to grow. I help plant new trees all over the forest. This keeps our home healthy and green. It makes sure there are always plenty of trees for my friends and family.

I am still dancing in my rainforest home today. People know me for my beautiful rainbow feathers and my special wiggly dance. My story matters because I am a forest helper. By spreading seeds, I help the whole rainforest stay alive and full of wonderful plants and animals. I help keep my home beautiful for everyone.
