A Coyote's Song
Hello there. I am a coyote, and I am very friendly and clever. You can know it’s me because I have pointy ears that hear every little sound and a big, fluffy tail that wags when I am happy. My fur is soft and is a pretty brownish-gray color, which helps me hide when I play games. I am a very smart animal. I can make my home almost anywhere. I might live in a big, open field, a quiet forest with tall trees, or even in a park near a busy town where people live. I love exploring all the different places in the world.
My favorite thing to do is play with my family. We run and chase each other all day long. When the sun goes down and the big, bright moon comes out, we all sing together. Our songs are made of happy yips, loud barks, and long howls. That is how we talk to each other and say hello to other coyotes far away. I also love to eat. I am not a picky eater at all. I find yummy, sweet berries on bushes, and I am very good at catching wiggly mice and bouncy rabbits. Eating all these different foods helps me stay strong and healthy so I can play every day.
I have a very special job in nature. Because I eat so many different things, I help keep the world around me balanced and clean. I make sure there aren't too many mice or rabbits, which helps the plants grow big and strong. This makes me a helpful neighbor to all the other animals and plants that live near me. I love being an important part of our big, beautiful world, and I am happy I can help take care of it every single day.
