Just want Golden Lion Tamarin?
Hello there. I am a Golden Lion Tamarin, and I'm so happy to meet you. My fur is a bright, fiery orange color, just like a tiny flame in the trees. The long hair around my face looks like a lion's mane, which is how I got my name. But I'm not a big lion, I'm a very small monkey. My family and I live high up in the treetops of our home, the beautiful Atlantic Forest in Brazil. We spend our days leaping from branch to branch, playing and searching for yummy things to eat. Our forest home is full of wonderful sounds and smells, and I love exploring every part of it with my family by my side.
Every day is an adventure here in the forest. When I get hungry, I use my long, skinny fingers to poke into the bark of trees and inside flowers. It's the perfect way to find tasty insects and drink sweet nectar. My family always works together as a team, which is very important. When new babies are born, they usually come as twins. Everyone helps take care of them. My dad is a great helper. He often carries the little ones on his back as we travel through the trees, keeping them safe and sound while my mom gets a chance to rest and eat.
For a while, my ancestors faced a big challenge. Our forest home began to get smaller and smaller because many of the trees were being cut down. With fewer trees, it became very hard for my family to find enough food and safe places to sleep. It was a very worrying time. By the 1960s, there were very few of us Golden Lion Tamarins left living in the wild. We were in danger of disappearing forever, and our bright orange color was becoming a rare sight in the forest.

But then, something wonderful happened. Kind people saw that we needed help, and they decided to protect us. They saved the parts of our forest that were still standing and started an amazing project to help us. Around the year 1984, they began to bring tamarins who were living in zoos back to the Atlantic Forest. These tamarins were able to live free again, and our families started to grow. Now, I have a very important job. When I eat fruit, I spread the seeds all over the forest floor. People call me a 'forest gardener' because I help new trees grow. By helping us, people helped the whole forest become healthy and strong again.
