The story

A Snow Monkey's Tale

Hello! My name is a Japanese Macaque, but you can call me a snow monkey! I live high up in the beautiful, snowy mountains of Japan. Snow is everywhere, but I stay cozy. I have a very thick, fluffy fur coat that feels like the softest blanket you can imagine. It keeps me super warm, even when it’s chilly and the wind blows. When you see me, you might notice my cute red face peeking out from all my fur. I love my home, and I love to play tag and tumble in the soft snow with my friends all day long.

Do you want to know my very favorite thing to do? It is taking a nice, warm bath! It is not a regular bath in a tub. It is a special warm pool called a hot spring that nature makes for us. The water feels so good and steamy. My whole family gets in the hot spring to splash around and stay toasty warm together. It is like a big, warm family hug. After our bath, my tummy rumbles. I get hungry! Then, I go looking for yummy snacks. I find sweet berries that pop in my mouth and crunchy leaves to munch on.

My family is very clever, which means we are very smart. We learned a cool trick. Sometimes, when we find our snacks, we wash them in the water before we eat them. This gets all the dirt off and makes them clean and extra tasty. I love living with my big, smart family in our beautiful, snowy home. We all help take care of each other. Our story shows how important it is for families to stick together to stay safe, warm, and happy.
