The story

Iggy the Marine Iguana

Hi there. My name is Iggy, and I'm a Marine Iguana. I live on special, rocky islands called the Galápagos. My favorite thing to do is lie in the warm sun on the black rocks. It feels so nice and cozy. All my friends and I huddle together to stay warm.

When I get hungry, I do something no other lizard can do. I go for a swim in the big, blue ocean. I wiggle my long tail back and forth to glide through the water. I'm looking for my favorite food: yummy green seaweed that grows on the rocks under the waves. It's like a tasty underwater salad.

After my swim, I get a lot of salty water in my tummy. But I have a funny trick to get it out. I point my nose to the sky and... ACHOO. I sneeze out all the extra salt in a little white puff. It's my special way of keeping healthy. By helping eat the seaweed, I keep the ocean clean for all my fish friends. Being a salty, swimming lizard is the best job ever.
