Just want Rodents?

The story

I Am a Rodent

Hello! My name is Rodent, and I am part of a very, very big animal family. Do you want to know my secret? It’s all about my teeth! My two front teeth are super special because they never, ever stop growing. They grow and grow all day long. That is why I love to nibble and gnaw on tasty things. Chewing on seeds and sticks helps keep my teeth just the right size so they don't get too long. It is my favorite thing to do!

My rodent family is one of the biggest in the whole world, and we live in so many different homes. You can find us almost everywhere! I have cousins called squirrels who climb high up in the trees and jump from branch to branch. My beaver cousins love the water and build cozy homes in rivers. And my little mice cousins dig tiny, warm burrows under the ground. We live in big green forests, sunny fields, and even in busy cities where people live. The only place you won't find us is the very, very cold land of Antarctica. It's too chilly for us there!

I have a very important job in nature. I am like a little gardener! I spend my day gathering lots of seeds and nuts to eat. They are so yummy. Sometimes, I find so many that I bury them in the ground to save for later. But sometimes, I forget where I hid my snack! When that happens, something amazing happens. A tiny new plant or a big, tall tree can grow right from the seed I forgot. This is how my family and I help make the world a more green and beautiful place for everyone to enjoy. We are nature's little helpers, and our work keeps the forests growing strong.
