Just want Akhenaten?
Hello. My name is Akhenaten. I was a pharaoh a very, very long time ago. A pharaoh is like a king. I lived in a warm, sunny land called Egypt. A big, long river called the Nile flowed through my home, helping all the plants grow big and strong. My world was bright and happy, and I loved living under the warm sun.
I loved the sun more than anything. I called the sun ‘Aten’. The bright, warm sun made me feel so happy. I believed the Aten was the most special god of all because it gave life to everyone and everything. It helped the flowers bloom and the birds sing. My wonderful wife was named Queen Nefertiti. Together with our children, we would look up at the sky and thank the Aten for its light and warmth. We loved to worship the sun together as a family.
I had a very big idea. I wanted to build a special city just for the Aten. I called my new city Akhetaten. It was a beautiful place with big, tall temples. The temples were special because they did not have a roof and were open to the sky. This way, the sunshine could always pour in and fill the city with light. Everyone could feel the warmth of the sun on their faces.
I lived many years ago in a time of great change. Today, people remember me as the pharaoh who loved the sun and wasn't afraid to see the world in a new light. My story reminds everyone to look for the beauty and wonder all around them.
