Just want Anandi Gopal Joshi?
Hello! My name is Anandi. I was a little girl who lived a long, long time ago in the 1800s. I grew up in a beautiful country called India. When I was a little girl, I had a very big dream. More than anything, I wanted to be a doctor. I dreamed of helping people feel all better when they were sick. It made me happy to think about helping others.
To learn how to be a doctor, I had to go to a special school. The school was very, very far away in a place called America. It was so far that I had to travel on a big ship to get there. The ship sailed across the gigantic ocean! It was a very long journey, but I wasn't scared. I was excited to go to school and learn everything I could. I waved goodbye to my home and started my big adventure to become a doctor.
I studied very hard at my new school. And in the year 1886, I did it! I became Dr. Anandi Joshi. I was one of the very first women from India to become a doctor. I lived to be 21 years old. My life was short, but I am so happy I could show other girls that they can be anything they want to be, even a doctor! It is always wonderful to follow your dreams.
