Archimedes

Hello! My name is Archimedes. A long, long time ago, I lived in a sunny place by the sea called Syracuse. More than anything, I loved to think about how things work. The world was like a big, wonderful puzzle to me!

One day, I needed to take a bath. As I stepped into the big tub, SPLASH! Water spilled all over the floor. I noticed that the more of me that went in, the more water came out! I was so excited by this discovery that I jumped out and shouted for everyone to hear, 'Eureka!'. That means 'I found it!'.

That big idea in the bath helped me solve lots of puzzles. I also loved to build things. I made a giant screw that could lift water up, like a swirly slide for water! It helped farmers give their thirsty plants a drink. It made me happy to use my ideas to help people.

I lived for a very long time, always thinking and inventing. Even today, people remember my ideas about splashing in the bath and my clever machines. They help us understand our amazing world and show that a good idea can change everything.
