The story

The Story of Aristotle

Hello! My name is Aristotle. I'll tell you about my life, which was one big adventure of asking questions! I was born a long, long time ago, in 384 BCE, in a small Greek town called Stagira. My father was a doctor, and I loved watching him work. He showed me how to look closely at plants and animals, which sparked my curiosity. I always wanted to know 'why?' Why does the sun rise? Why do birds have feathers? The world was a giant puzzle, and I wanted to find all the pieces.

When I was a teenager, I moved to the big city of Athens to learn at a special school called the Academy. My teacher was a very wise man named Plato. He taught me to think about big ideas like friendship and courage. I studied with him for 20 years! I loved learning, but sometimes I had different ideas than my teacher, and that was okay. After I left the Academy, I got a very important job. I became the teacher for a young prince named Alexander. He was full of energy and very smart. I taught him about animals, stars, and how to be a fair and good leader. He grew up to be known as Alexander the Great, and I was so proud to have been his teacher.

Finally, I went back to Athens and started my very own school in 335 BCE. It was called the Lyceum. We did something funny there—we walked around while we talked and learned! Because of all our walking, people called us 'Peripatetics,' which means 'the walk-arounders.' I loved to sort and organize everything I saw, from tiny insects to big ideas. I wrote down everything I learned in hundreds of books. I wanted to understand everything in the whole world! Even though I died in 322 BCE, my ideas and my love for asking questions have been shared for thousands of years. So, always be curious and keep asking 'why?'—you never know what you might discover!
