Just want C. V. Raman?
Hello! My name is C. V. Raman, and I was a scientist from the beautiful country of India. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1888. When I was a little boy, my head was always full of questions! I loved looking at the world around me and asking 'Why?' Why is the sky blue? Why do flowers have so many colors? I just had to know everything!
One day, while on a boat in the big, sparkling sea, I asked my biggest question yet: 'Why is the sea so very blue?' Some people said it was just a reflection of the sky, but I knew there was more to it. I went back to my workshop, which was full of lenses and lights. In 1928, I played with light, shining it through different things to see what would happen. I discovered that when light passes through water, it changes color! It was like a tiny rainbow secret.
My discovery about light and color was very important. It helped other scientists understand the world in a new way. Today, people use my ideas to make amazing things! I lived to be 82 years old. I am so happy that my big questions helped us learn more about our colorful world. Always remember to be curious and ask 'Why?'—you never know what secrets you might discover!
