Just want Chanakya?
Hello. My name is Chanakya, but some people also knew me as Kautilya. I lived a very long time ago, in the 4th century BCE in a land that is now called India. My greatest joy was learning and teaching. I was a teacher, or 'acharya,' at a famous university called Takshashila. I loved to share my knowledge with students about how to be a good leader and how to make a country strong and fair for everyone. I believed that a smart and kind ruler could make life better for all people.
One day, I visited the court of a powerful king named Dhana Nanda. He was not a kind man and was very greedy. He did not treat his people well, and when I visited him, he was very rude to me. He insulted me right in front of everyone in his court. It made me feel very determined. That very day, I made a promise to myself. I decided I would find a truly worthy ruler, someone who would care for the people and unite the land with justice and wisdom. I knew the people deserved better.
My search for a new leader led me to a remarkable young boy named Chandragupta Maurya. I first saw him playing a game with his friends where he was pretending to be a king, holding his own little court. He was so clever, fair, and brave even in his games. I watched how he made decisions and knew right away that he had the heart of a true leader. I decided to become his teacher. I taught him everything I knew about strategy, how to manage a kingdom's money, and what it truly means to be a good and just king.
Together, Chandragupta and I worked very hard to build a new and better kingdom for the people. Around the year 322 BCE, we established the great Maurya Empire. With Chandragupta as the emperor, it grew to be one of the largest empires in the world at that time. I served as his chief advisor, and I was always there to help him make wise decisions that would benefit all his people. To help him and all future leaders, I wrote down all of my ideas in a book called the 'Arthashastra,' which is like a guide on how to be a great ruler.

I lived a long and full life, helping to shape a great empire that was fair and strong. Even though I am no longer there, my ideas live on. The 'Arthashastra' is still read by people all over the world who want to learn about leadership and how to run a government. I am remembered as a wise teacher who believed that with knowledge and a good heart, you can make the world a better place for everyone.
