Hello! My name is Chandragupta Maurya. I lived a very, very long time ago in a beautiful land that is now called India. When I was a boy, the land was split into many small kingdoms, and I had a big dream. I dreamed of bringing everyone together to be like one big family.
I had a very wise teacher and friend named Chanakya. He helped me with my big idea. Together, we gathered a big army of helpers. We talked to all the leaders of the small kingdoms. We asked them to join us and become one big, strong family. And they did! Around the year 322 BCE, I became the first emperor of our new family, which we called the Mauryan Empire.
Being an emperor was a big job! I worked hard to make sure everyone in our giant kingdom was safe and had yummy food to eat. We built good roads so people could visit each other easily. We also made sure our cities were clean and happy places to live. I wanted everyone to feel like they belonged.
After many years, I knew my work was done. I lived a full life and passed away around the year 297 BCE. People remember me today because I was the one who first brought India together into one of its greatest empires. My story shows that even a young person with a big dream can change the world.
