Just want Charlemagne?
Hello there! My name is Charlemagne, which means Charles the Great. I was a king who lived a very, very long time ago, born around the year 748. Even when I was a little boy, I dreamed of being a great leader. I loved riding horses and learning how to be strong and fair, just like my father, who was also a king.
When I grew up, I became the king of a people called the Franks. I saw many different groups of people living nearby, and I wanted us all to be friends in one big, happy kingdom. So, I traveled across the land and brought everyone together. We created a giant kingdom where people could be safe and work together. It was important to me that everyone felt like they belonged.
I believed that learning to read and write was like having a superpower! I wanted everyone, not just princes and princesses, to have this power. So, I built schools all over my kingdom. I invited smart teachers to help children learn about numbers, stars, and wonderful stories. I loved seeing my kingdom fill up with bright, curious minds who could share their ideas.
One very special day, on Christmas Day in the year 800, I was given a beautiful crown and named an emperor. It was like getting a giant gold star for helping so many people and building a peaceful kingdom. It was a very proud day for me and for everyone who helped make our home a wonderful place to live.
I lived a long and busy life until I was about 66 years old. Today, people remember me as a king who brought people together and believed in the power of learning. My ideas about schools and being a fair leader helped shape the world for many years to come, and I hope they inspire you to learn and lead with kindness, too.
