Dwight D. Eisenhower

Hello! My name is Dwight D. Eisenhower, but my friends and family all called me 'Ike.' I grew up in a small town called Abilene, in a state called Kansas. My house was a very busy and happy place because I had six brothers. We were all great friends. Our house was always full of fun and games. I loved to play outside with my brothers, learning new things at school, and figuring out how to be a good team leader when we played together.

When I grew up, I became a soldier. It was a very important job. I was the leader of a very big team of other soldiers, and I helped everyone work together. Our job was to keep people safe, and we worked very hard to do that. Later on, the people of the United States chose me to be their president. As president, my biggest wish was to help everyone. I helped build big, long roads all across the country so families could take fun trips in their cars. I also thought space was super exciting. I helped start a special team called NASA to explore the stars and planets with giant rockets.

I lived to be 78 years old. Today, people remember me as a leader who was good at bringing people together and helping them work as a team. Every time you ride in a car on a big highway or see a picture of a rocket flying to the moon, you can think of the work I helped start. I wanted to help make our world more connected and full of wonder for everyone.
