A Story About Euclid

Hello! My name is Euclid, and I lived a very, very long time ago. I loved shapes more than anything. Do you know what shapes are? I loved circles, squares, and triangles. To me, they were like a fun puzzle. I liked to see how they all fit together. A circle is round like a ball, and a square has four sides that are all the same. Thinking about shapes made me very happy, and I wanted to share my ideas with everyone.

I lived in a beautiful city called Alexandria. Around the year 300 BCE, I was a teacher there. I wanted to put all of my ideas about shapes into one place, so I wrote a very special book. I called my book 'Elements'. It was like a rule book for shapes. It showed everyone how to draw perfect circles and straight lines. It also showed how squares and triangles could fit together to make new and exciting shapes. I wanted my book to help everyone understand the puzzle of shapes.

Even though I lived a long, long time ago, people still read my book 'Elements' today. My ideas help people build amazing things, like tall buildings and strong bridges. My rules for shapes help us understand the world all around us. The next time you are playing, try to look for fun shapes. You might see a circle in a wheel or a square in a window. Shapes are everywhere, and they are a fun puzzle for you to solve, too.
