Just want Francis Crick?
Hello. My name is Francis Crick. Ever since I was a little boy, I loved asking questions. I wanted to know how everything worked. I looked at birds, flowers, and even myself and wondered, 'What is the secret recipe that makes us alive?'. This big question sent me on a wonderful adventure.
I worked with my good friend, James Watson. Together, we tried to solve one of life's biggest puzzles. We knew there was a special instruction book inside every living thing, called DNA. But we didn't know what it looked like. We built models with wires and colourful pieces, trying to guess its shape. Then, one day in 1953, we figured it out. It looked like a long, twisty ladder, which we called a 'double helix'. We were so excited.
Finding the shape of DNA helped doctors and scientists understand our bodies in a whole new way. It was like finally being able to read the secret instruction book for all living things. I lived to be 88 years old, and I was so happy I could spend my life asking big questions and helping find the answers. People remember me today as one of the scientists who unlocked a secret of life.
