The story

Frederick II

Hello! My name is Frederick. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1194. When I grew up, I became a king and a very important ruler called an emperor. I wore a shiny crown on my head and lived in big castles in a warm, sunny land. It was my job to look after all the people and places in my kingdom.

I loved animals more than anything! I had my very own zoo where I kept so many amazing creatures. I had big, strong lions that would roar. I had tall camels with bumpy backs. I even had a giant elephant! It was so much fun to watch them play. My favorite animals were my clever birds called falcons. They could fly so high and so fast in the big blue sky! I watched my falcons for hours and hours. I learned so much about them that I even wrote a whole book about my falcons to share what I learned with everyone.

Besides animals, I loved learning new things. I was always asking questions! I built beautiful, strong castles that looked like they belonged in a storybook. Because I was so curious about everything, people gave me a special nickname. They called me 'The Wonder of the World.' I lived to be 55 years old and passed away in the year 1250. Today, people still remember me for the castles I built, my love of learning, and all the amazing animals I cared for.
