The story

Heinrich Heine: The Poet Whose Words Could Sing

Hello! My name is Heinrich Heine. A long, long time ago, I was born in the year 1797. When I was a little boy, I fell in love with words. I loved how they could rhyme and dance and tell wonderful stories. I decided that when I grew up, I would be a poet and write stories and poems for everyone to enjoy.

In the year 1824, I wrote one of my favorite poems. It was about a beautiful maiden with golden hair named Lorelei. She would sit high on a rock by a big river and sing a magical song. Her voice was so lovely that sailors would forget to steer their boats and crash upon the rocks! It was a fairy tale that people loved to hear.

In the 1800s, something amazing happened with my poems. People loved them so much that musicians created beautiful melodies for them. My words became songs that people could sing along to! It was like my poems learned how to fly on the notes of a piano or a violin. Many people still sing these songs today.

I lived to be 58 years old and passed away in the year 1856. I spent my life sharing my stories with the world. Today, children and grown-ups still read my poems and sing my songs. My words live on in books and music, sharing a little bit of magic and wonder with everyone who listens.
