Just want Hesiod?
Hello! My name is Hesiod. I lived a very, very long time ago in a warm, sunny place called Greece. When I wasn't writing, I was a shepherd and a farmer. I loved taking care of my fluffy sheep and growing yummy food in my fields.
My favorite place to be was on a big, beautiful mountain called Mount Helicon. While I watched my sheep munch on grass, I would look at the big blue sky and think up stories. I imagined I could hear beautiful songs in the wind that gave me ideas for poems. I wrote poems about the amazing Greek gods and goddesses, like Zeus, who was the king of all the gods and could throw lightning bolts!
I wrote two big poems that people still read today. One was called 'Theogony,' and it was all about how the world and the gods began. My other poem, 'Works and Days,' was like a little guidebook for farmers, telling them the best time to plant their seeds. I lived a long life, and even though it was many, many years ago, my stories are still shared in books so everyone can learn about the magical world of ancient Greece.
