The story

Homi Bhabha: The Scientist with a Big Dream

Hello! My name is Homi Jehangir Bhabha. I was a scientist from the beautiful country of India. When I was a boy, I loved to learn how things work. I was very curious about the teeny-tiny, invisible bits that make up everything in the world. These are called atoms. I thought science was like a superpower that could help people and make the world a better place.

I studied science in faraway places, but I always dreamed of coming back home to India. I wanted my country to have its own amazing places for science. So, in the year 1945, I helped start a special school. It was called the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. It was a place where brilliant people could come together to share ideas and make new discoveries. I believed that my friends and fellow scientists in India could do anything.

I had another big idea. I thought we could use the power hidden inside those tiny atoms to do good things. My dream was to use this special atomic energy to make electricity. This electricity could power lights in every home and help run machines in factories. I wanted science to help everyone in India have a brighter life.

I lived to be 56 years old, and I spent my life sharing my love for science. Today, people in India remember me for helping start our country's journey into science and atomic energy. My dream of using science to help people continues to shine bright, inspiring new scientists every single day.
