Abraham's Big Journey
Hello. My name is Abraham. A very long time ago, around the year 2000 BCE, I lived in a big, busy city called Ur. My wife, Sarah, and I had a comfortable home there with everything we needed. But even with our nice home, I always felt deep inside that there was a bigger adventure waiting for me, something special I was meant to do.
One day, I heard a call from God. He asked me to leave my home, my friends, and everything I knew. He wanted me to travel to a new land that He would show me when I got there. It was a little scary to think about leaving our whole lives behind. But I trusted God, and I knew I had to go. So, Sarah and I packed up all of our things. My nephew, Lot, decided to come with us. We gathered our big herds of sheep and goats and started on a very long journey into the unknown.
We traveled for many, many days, walking across deserts and over hills until we finally reached a beautiful land called Canaan. It was there that God made me a special promise. He said that my family would one day be as numerous as the stars you see in the night sky. This promise seemed impossible. Sarah and I were very old, and we did not have any children. How could we have a family as big as the stars? But we kept our faith. And then, a wonderful thing happened. We had a son, and we were so happy. We named him Isaac.
My family grew and grew, just as God had promised. I am remembered as a father to many people and as a friend of God. My story, which happened thousands of years ago, is still shared today in three of the world's biggest religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. I lived to be 175 years old, and my life shows that having faith can lead you on the most amazing adventures.
