Hello, my name is Abraham. My story begins a very long time ago, around the year 2000 BCE. I was born in a busy city called Ur, which was located in a land known as Mesopotamia. It was a place full of people and markets, but my life was about to change in a way I could never have imagined. My father’s name was Terah, and he was the head of our family. The most important person in my life was my dear wife, Sarah. We had built a comfortable life for ourselves in Ur, surrounded by our family and everything we had ever known. We didn't know it then, but we were about to leave it all behind for a journey that would be remembered for thousands of years.

One day, I felt a powerful call from God. It was a message deep in my heart, asking me to do something that seemed impossible. God asked me to leave my home, my country, and my relatives to travel to a new, unknown land that He would show me. Imagine being asked to leave everything you have ever known. It was a very big decision, and it took a great deal of trust to say yes. Sarah and I spoke about it, and we knew we had to follow this call. We gathered all of our belongings, packed up our tents, and prepared for the road ahead. My nephew, Lot, decided to join us on this great adventure. Together, we said goodbye to our home in Ur and began the long journey toward a place called Canaan, stepping into a future that was completely unknown to us.

After a long time traveling, we finally arrived in the land of Canaan. It was a beautiful place, with rolling hills and open skies, but it was also a land that required hard work to survive. We didn't build a permanent house. Instead, we lived as nomads, which means we were always on the move. We lived in large tents and traveled with our herds of sheep and goats, constantly searching for fresh green grass and new sources of water for them. It was in this new land that God made a special promise to me. This promise is called a covenant. God promised that I would become the father of a great nation. He told me that my descendants, which means my children, grandchildren, and all the generations after them, would be as numerous as the stars you see in the night sky.

For many years, Sarah and I waited for this promise to come true. We were growing very old, and we still did not have any children of our own. But we never lost our trust. Then, when we thought it was no longer possible, a miracle happened. Our son, Isaac, was born. The happiness we felt was immeasurable. Holding him in our arms felt like holding the promise of God itself. His birth was a sign that God keeps His promises. We named him Isaac, which means 'he laughs.' We chose this name because when Sarah first heard that she would have a son at her old age, she laughed with pure joy and disbelief. Isaac brought so much laughter and happiness into our lives.

I lived a very long and full life. I lived to be 175 years old, and I had the great joy of watching my son Isaac grow up and have his own children. The great nation that God had promised me had finally begun, right before my eyes. My journey of faith had led to a new beginning for my family. Today, many people around the world look back on my story. In three of the world's major religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—I am remembered as an important patriarch, or founding father. My life is shared as an example of what it means to have great faith and to trust in a promise, even when the path is unknown.
