Just want Inō Tadataka?
Hello! My name is Inō Tadataka. I lived a long, long time ago in a beautiful country called Japan. When I was a boy, and even when I was a grown-up, I loved learning new things about the world. It made me so happy to discover how things work.
After I was done with my first job, I wanted to start a big, new adventure. I looked around and wondered, 'What does all of Japan look like put together?' I thought about it and decided I would be the one to find out! I wanted to make a giant, amazing map of my whole country so everyone could see it.
To make my map, I had to walk. And walk, and walk, and walk! I walked all over Japan, from the sandy beaches to the tall mountains. I used special tools to measure the land and looked at the bright stars at night to help me know where I was. It took many years and so many footsteps to gather all the pieces for my map puzzle. Every step was part of my big adventure.
My friends and I finished the map, and it was the first one to show what Japan really looked like! I lived to be 73 years old. Today, people remember me as the man who walked across Japan to create a beautiful and helpful map for everyone.
