Just want Ivan Franko?
Hello, my name is Ivan Franko, and I want to share my story with you. I was born on August 27th, 1856, in a small village called Nahuievychi. Today, this village is part of a country called Ukraine. My father was a blacksmith, which means he worked with fire and metal to create tools and horseshoes. Our family was not wealthy, but our home was full of love. More than anything, I loved to read. I would read any book I could get my hands on. My parents saw how much I enjoyed learning, and even though it was not easy for them, they worked hard to make sure I could go to a good school to continue my studies. They believed in my dreams, and I wanted to make them proud.
When I was old enough, I moved to the big city of Lviv in 1875 to study at the university. It was such an exciting time. The city was busy, and the university was filled with new ideas. This is where my dream of becoming a writer truly started to take shape. Just one year later, in 1876, I published my very first book of poems, which I called 'Ballads and Tales.' I wrote about the history and stories of my people. I also wrote about fairness and justice because I believed everyone deserved to be treated well. These ideas were very important to me, but they sometimes got me into trouble with the government at the time. In 1877, I was arrested for sharing my beliefs. It was a scary experience, but it never stopped me from writing about what I felt was right. My belief in helping others was stronger than my fear.
My work was about giving a voice to my people. I had many different jobs throughout my life to help me do this. I was a poet, but I was also a journalist who wrote articles for newspapers, and a scholar who studied history and language. I also worked as a translator, which means I would take famous books written in other languages and rewrite them in Ukrainian so more people could enjoy them. In 1883, I wrote a historical novel called 'Zachar Berkut,' which told a story about bravery from long ago. A decade later, in 1893, I wrote a play that became very popular called 'Stolen Happiness.' But I wanted to do more than just write stories. In 1890, I helped start a political group called the Ukrainian Radical Party. We used our words and ideas to fight for a better and fairer future for everyone in our land.

Throughout my life, I never stopped writing. I wrote thousands of poems, stories, and articles. My work became so well-known that I was nominated for a very important award, the Nobel Prize in Literature, in 1915. I lived to be 59 years old, passing away on May 28th, 1916. People in Ukraine still remember me as the 'Kamenyar,' which means 'The Stonemason.' They gave me this name because they said my words were like stones that helped build the foundation for their modern country. My books are still read today, and I hope my story inspires you to always love learning and to have the courage to stand up for what is right.
