Just want Joseph Pulitzer?
Hello! My name is Joseph Pulitzer. A long time ago, I was a young man who traveled on a big boat. I sailed all the way from a country called Hungary to my new home in America. I loved to read books and learn new things. Most of all, I loved telling important stories to people. Stories can help everyone learn and grow.
I thought newspapers were a wonderful way to share stories with everyone. A newspaper is like a big book of stories that comes out every day. I worked very hard, and soon I had my very own newspaper! I wanted my newspaper to be a helper. It told true stories that could make the world a better and kinder place for everyone to live in.
I wanted to celebrate all the amazing people who tell stories, take pictures, and write music. So, I created a special award called the Pulitzer Prize. It is like giving a shiny gold star to the very best storytellers. I lived to be 64 years old. I am so happy that my prize still helps us find and celebrate the most wonderful stories every single year. It helps us remember how important it is to share our stories.
