Hello there! My name is Julian. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1894, in a country called Poland. When I was a little boy, I discovered something wonderful: words! I loved how they sounded when you said them out loud. I loved making up rhymes and silly sentences that would make my friends and family laugh. Words were my favorite toys.
Because I loved words so much, I decided to build things with them. I wrote poems for children just like you. I wrote about a very long train that went 'choo-choo' and carried all sorts of amazing things. I also wrote about an elephant who was a little clumsy and birds who had their very own radio show where they sang all day long. My poems were full of music and funny sounds. I wanted to make children giggle and dream.
I wrote poems and stories for my whole life. I lived to be 59 years old, and my life came to an end in the year 1953. But the most wonderful thing is that my words are still here for you to enjoy! Today, children in Poland and all around the world still read my poems. They laugh at the clumsy elephant and listen for the choo-choo train. My stories are like a happy song that never ends, and that makes me smile.
