Just want Khufu?
Hello. My name is Khufu, and I was a pharaoh in ancient Egypt. Being a pharaoh is like being a king. I lived a very, very long time ago, in a land of hot sun and golden sand. My father, Sneferu, was also a pharaoh. He was a great ruler, and he taught me everything I needed to know to take care of our people. He showed me how to be strong and wise, so that one day I could lead our kingdom and help it grow. Following in his footsteps was a big job, but I was ready to make him proud and be a good leader for my people.
Around the year 2589 BCE, I became the pharaoh of Egypt. It was my job to make sure my kingdom was safe from enemies and that all the people had enough food to eat. I also had to honor our gods, because we believed they watched over us and helped us. One of the most important parts of our lives was the Nile River. Every year, the river would flood and leave behind rich soil that was perfect for growing crops. This meant our farms could grow lots of food, like wheat and barley, which kept everyone healthy and strong. The Nile was truly the heart of our kingdom.
We Egyptians believed that after we left this world, our spirits would live on in an afterlife. As a pharaoh, I needed a very special place to rest so my spirit could journey on. That is why I started my biggest project: building the Great Pyramid at Giza. It was a huge undertaking. It took about 20 years to build, and many, many skilled workers helped make it happen. They carefully cut and moved millions of giant stone blocks. Each block was so heavy. When it was finished, my pyramid was the tallest building in the entire world, reaching high into the sky.

I ruled as pharaoh for many years and lived a full life. But my story didn't end there. The Great Pyramid that I built became my tomb, a final resting place for my journey into the afterlife. For thousands of years, it has stood strong in the desert sand. Today, people from all over the world still travel to Egypt to see it. They look up at its giant stone sides and marvel at what my people and I were able to build so long ago.
