Just want Le Corbusier?
Hello! My name was Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, but my friends called me Le Corbusier. A long time ago, in the year 1887, I was born. When I was a boy, I loved to look at buildings and draw them. I also loved to paint pictures with bright, happy colors. Drawing and painting made me feel so happy.
As I grew up, I had a fun idea. What if houses could stand up on skinny legs, just like a table? That way, you could have a garden or a playground right underneath the house to play in. Around the year 1928, I started to design buildings that looked like clean, white boxes. They had big, big windows to let all the warm sunshine pour inside. I wanted houses to be simple and easy to live in. I thought a house should be like a helpful machine that makes your family feel happy and comfortable.
I built many of my special buildings all over the world. My ideas helped other builders think in new and exciting ways, too. I lived to be 77 years old and passed away in the year 1965. Today, people can still visit my buildings and see my paintings. I am remembered for dreaming up a new way to make homes and cities bright, open, and full of light for everyone to enjoy.
