Just want Lord Byron?
Hello! My name is George Gordon Byron, but most people know me as Lord Byron. I was born in London, England, on January 22nd, 1788. When I was born, one of my feet was different from the other, and it made walking a bit tricky. Sometimes this made me feel sad, but it also made me very determined to do great things. My life changed in 1798 when I was just 10 years old. I became a 'Lord' and inherited a huge, old, and mysterious house called Newstead Abbey. It was an amazing place for a boy with a big imagination. I loved exploring its secret corners and gardens. I also filled the house with all sorts of animals, but my best friend was a big, loyal dog named Boatswain. We had many adventures together in that old abbey.
I loved to read books and write down my own thoughts and stories. When I grew older, I went to Cambridge University, and it was there, in 1807, that I published my very first book of poems. I was so proud, but some critics wrote mean things about it, which hurt my feelings. Instead of giving up, I decided to show them what I could do. In 1809, I wrote another, cleverer poem that proved I was a good writer. Soon after, I set off on a grand adventure across Europe. The amazing mountains and sparkling seas I saw filled my head with ideas. These travels inspired me to write a long poem called *Childe Harold's Pilgrimage*. When it was published in 1812, people absolutely loved it. It felt like I became famous overnight.
After becoming a famous poet, I continued to travel and write about the world. In 1816, I left England and lived in beautiful places like Switzerland and Italy, where the scenery gave me even more inspiration. It was during this time, in 1818, that I started writing my longest and most famous poem, *Don Juan*. It was a funny and exciting adventure story that people still read today. But my biggest adventure was yet to come. I heard that the people of Greece were fighting for their freedom from the Ottoman Empire, and I admired their bravery so much. I believed that everyone deserves to be free, so in 1823, I decided I had to help. I sailed to Greece and used my own money to buy supplies for the soldiers, joining them in their important fight.

My time in Greece was important, but it was also very difficult. While I was there helping the soldiers, I became very ill with a fever. I lived to be 36 years old, and my journey ended there in 1824. Even though my life was shorter than some, I tried to fill it with poetry and adventure. People remember me today for my exciting poems and for creating a new kind of character called the 'Byronic hero'—a moody, clever, and passionate hero who has a good heart. And in Greece, I am still remembered as a national hero for helping in their fight for freedom. It shows that using your voice, your words, and your heart to help others is the greatest adventure of all.
