Just want Lorenzo de' Medici?
Hello! My name is Lorenzo de' Medici. I was born a very long time ago, in the year 1449. I lived in a beautiful city in Italy called Florence. My family helped take care of our city, and I loved it very much. It was full of sunshine, busy streets, and amazing buildings.
My most favorite thing in the world was art! I loved paintings with bright colors and sculptures that looked so real. I wanted my whole city to be filled with beautiful things, so I helped many artists. I made sure they had food, a place to work, and everything they needed to create their masterpieces. I even knew a very famous artist named Michelangelo when he was just a boy! It made me so happy to watch them create things that would make people smile.
Because I helped make Florence so beautiful and full of art, people gave me a special nickname: Lorenzo the Magnificent. 'Magnificent' is a big word for 'wonderful'. I lived to be 43 years old. Today, many years later, people from all over the world still visit Florence to see the incredible art I helped bring to life. It makes me happy to know that the beauty we created is still being shared with everyone.
