Just want Luis Federico Leloir?
Hello! My name is Luis Federico Leloir, and I was a scientist. I was born on September 6th, 1906. Even when I was a little boy, I loved asking questions. I always wanted to know how things worked, like a big, fun puzzle! I grew up in a country called Argentina, and my mind was always full of 'whys' and 'hows'. I wanted to understand everything around me.
My biggest puzzle was about our bodies. I wondered, 'How do we get energy to run and play after eating something sweet?'. I wanted to find the answer. I worked with my friends in my lab, and in 1949, we found it! We discovered how our bodies take sugar from food and save it up, like a little battery. Then, when you need to run, jump, or even think, your body uses that sugar battery for power! It was a very exciting discovery.
For this discovery, I was given a very special award called the Nobel Prize in 1970. It made me so happy to know my work was helping other scientists and doctors understand how to keep people healthy. I lived to be 81 years old. People remember me for being a curious scientist who solved a very important puzzle about our bodies.
