Just want Matthew Boulton?
Hello! My name is Matthew Boulton. When I was a little boy, I loved helping my father in his workshop. We made small, shiny metal things together. We made sparkly buttons that made clothes look so nice. We also made cool belt buckles to hold belts tight. It was so much fun to create things that people could use every day.
When I grew up, I built a very big workshop. Around the year 1762, I called it the Soho Manufactory. It was a happy, busy place where lots of my friends came to work with me. One day, I met a clever new friend named James Watt. James was very smart! Together, we decided to build a super special machine called a steam engine. It went 'huff and puff' and used hot steam, just like the steam that comes from a teapot. Our engine could make other machines work all by themselves! It was like magic.
Our steam engines helped people all over the world. They helped them build amazing things and made their work a little easier. I lived a long and busy life until I was 80 years old. Today, people remember me and my friend James for working together and for creating machines that helped change the world.
