Montserrat Caballé

Hello. My name is Montserrat, and I want to tell you my story. A long time ago, in the year 1933, I was born in a beautiful city called Barcelona. When I was a little girl living there, I discovered I loved to sing. I would sing everywhere I went. My voice was a special gift, and it made me and my family so happy. Singing felt like sunshine inside me, and I wanted to share that feeling with everyone. I knew from a very young age that singing was what I was meant to do. It was my favorite game and my biggest dream.

I practiced singing every single day. I learned how to make my voice soar up high like a bird and be as soft as a whisper. Soon, my voice was ready for big places. In the year 1965, I began singing on giant stages in front of lots of people. It was so exciting. Wearing sparkly dresses and singing beautiful music was like a dream come true for me. I felt so happy sharing my songs. I got to travel all around the world to share my music, and people would clap and smile when they heard my voice. It was the best feeling ever.

In 1987, I did one of my favorite things ever. I got to sing a very special song with my friend, Freddie Mercury. Our song was called 'Barcelona,' and we named it after the wonderful city where I grew up. It was a big, loud, happy song. We made it for a very important party for sports called the Olympic Games that was going to be in my city. When we sang it, everyone loved it. People would sing along with us, and it felt like the whole world was celebrating together. It was a song full of joy and friendship.

I lived to be 85 years old, and I filled all of those years with so much music until I passed away in 2018. I sang for people all over the world. Even though I am no longer here to sing for you on a stage, my voice lives on forever. You can still listen to my songs today and hear the joy and love I shared with the world through my music.
