Just want Nebuchadnezzar II?
Hello! My name is Nebuchadnezzar II, and I was a king of the great city of Babylon thousands of years ago. I was born around the year 634 BCE. My father, Nabopolassar, was a strong leader who founded the Neo-Babylonian Empire. I grew up watching him lead our people and learned everything I could about being a good ruler and a smart military commander. It was a very exciting time, and I knew that one day I would help him protect and expand our new empire.
When I was a young man, my father trusted me to lead our army. In the year 605 BCE, I led our soldiers to a great victory in the Battle of Carchemish against the Egyptians. This victory showed the world how powerful Babylon had become. Sadly, my father passed away later that same year, and I became the new king. It was my duty to continue his work and make our empire the greatest in the world. To do this, I led my armies to protect our lands and bring new territories under Babylonian rule. I wanted to make sure our empire was safe and prosperous for all our people.
Being a king wasn't just about battles; it was also about creating a home my people could be proud of. I had a grand vision to make my capital, Babylon, the most magnificent city anyone had ever seen. I began enormous building projects all over the city. Around 575 BCE, we completed the breathtaking Ishtar Gate. It was the main entrance to Babylon, and it shone with brilliant blue glazed bricks decorated with golden lions, bulls, and dragons. I strengthened the city's walls and rebuilt our grand temples. People also told stories about the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, a beautiful terraced garden I supposedly built for my wife because she missed the green mountains of her homeland. I wanted my city to be a true wonder of the world.

I ruled as king for 43 years, a long and eventful time, until the year 562 BCE. I lived to be about 72 years old. Though my empire eventually faded, the stories of the city I built have lasted for thousands of years. Today, people remember me as the king who transformed Babylon into a legendary city of splendor and might. You can even see the real Ishtar Gate, carefully rebuilt in a museum, and marvel at its bright blue bricks. My story shows how a big dream can create something beautiful that will be remembered long, long after you are gone.
