The story

Prince Albert

Hello! My name is Albert. I was a prince. I grew up in a big, beautiful castle in a country called Germany. When I was a little boy, I loved to learn new things. I liked to read books, paint pretty pictures, and listen to music. I always dreamed of using my ideas to help people and make the world a better place.

One day, I traveled to a country called England. There, I met my wonderful cousin, Victoria. She was a queen! We became best friends and fell in love. We got married in the year 1840. I loved her so much, and she loved me. We had a big, happy family with nine children! We loved to play games together and have lots of fun. I helped Queen Victoria rule the country, and we were always a great team.

I had a super exciting idea! I wanted to have a giant party to show everyone all the amazing things people could make and invent. We called it the Great Exhibition, and it happened in the year 1851. To hold the party, we built a huge, sparkly building made of glass. It was called the Crystal Palace. People from all over the world came to share their clever inventions and their beautiful art for everyone to see.

I lived to be 42 years old. After my life ended, my dear Victoria missed me very much. Today, people remember me for loving my family and for bringing people from all over the world together to share their wonderful ideas. The big party I planned helped open new museums, so everyone could keep learning and be inspired for many years to come.
