Just want Raphael?
Hello there! My name is Raphael, and I am a painter from Italy. My story begins a very long time ago. I was born in a beautiful hilltop town called Urbino on April 6th, in the year 1483. My father, Giovanni, was a painter for a very important Duke, so our home was my first art studio! I was surrounded by brushes, bright paints, and big canvases. I loved helping my father mix colors, and he taught me how to draw people so they looked gentle and kind. Art was my favorite game and my best friend.
When I grew older, I knew I had to learn more. Around the year 1500, I became a student of a great master named Perugino. He showed me how to make paintings feel peaceful and full of light. After I learned everything I could from him, I moved to the exciting city of Florence in 1504. It was like the art capital of the world! I saw paintings by the amazing Leonardo da Vinci and sculptures by the powerful Michelangelo. Their art inspired me so much. I spent my days sketching and painting, especially pictures of Mary and baby Jesus, which people called my 'Madonnas'.
One day, in 1508, I received a very important invitation. The Pope in Rome, whose name was Julius II, wanted me to come and paint for him! I moved to Rome and was given a huge task: to decorate the Pope's private library in the Vatican. I painted enormous pictures directly onto the walls, which are called frescoes. My most famous fresco is The School of Athens. It’s a giant painting filled with all the brilliant thinkers and scientists from ancient times, all gathered together. It was so much fun to imagine them all in one room!

I was a very busy man in Rome. Besides painting, I also became an architect and helped design big, beautiful buildings. I loved creating art that made people feel calm and happy. My paintings were known for their bright colors and for showing people with sweet, gentle faces. I lived to be 37 years old, passing away on my birthday in the year 1520. Even though I didn't have a long time on Earth, my art is still here. Today, you can see my paintings in museums all around the world, and I hope they bring a little bit of beauty and peace into your day.
