Hello! My name is Rembrandt, and I was a painter. I lived a long, long time ago, way back in the year 1606, in a country called the Netherlands. My town was full of spinning windmills! Even when I was a little boy, I loved to draw and paint more than anything. I would mix my own paints from colorful powders to get the perfect shades.
Do you know what I loved to paint the most? People! I thought every face told a wonderful story. I even painted my own face over and over again. Sometimes I would make a silly face, a happy face, or a thoughtful face in the mirror to practice. I loved playing with light and shadows to make my paintings look real and full of feeling. In 1642, I painted a giant picture called 'The Night Watch' that was filled with all my friends getting ready for an adventure.
I kept painting for my whole life. I lived to be 63 years old, and when I was done, I had created hundreds of paintings and drawings. Today, you can see my art in big buildings called museums all around the world. My paintings help people see what life was like long ago and remember that everyone's face has a special story to tell.
