The story

Shirley Temple

Hello! My name is Shirley Temple. A long time ago, in the year 1928, I was born with bouncy, curly hair. My favorite things to do were singing and dancing. I would tap my feet and twirl all around the room. It always made me so happy, and I loved making my family smile.

My mom, Gertrude, helped me get into movies when I was only three years old. In 1934, I was in a movie called 'Bright Eyes,' where I sang a famous song called 'On the Good Ship Lollipop.' I got to sing and dance on a big screen for everyone to see. My job was to make people smile, especially during a time when many people were feeling sad. I loved being in movies and bringing happiness to others.

When I grew up, I still wanted to help people, but in a new way. In 1969, I became a diplomat. That's a grown-up job where you help different countries talk to each other and be friends. It was very important work, and I was proud that I could help people from all over the world get along.

I lived to be 85 years old and passed away in 2014. Even today, people can watch my old movies and smile. They even made dolls that looked just like me! I will always be remembered as the little girl with big dimples who loved to bring joy and happiness to the world.
