Just want Vasco da Gama?
Hello! My name is Vasco da Gama. I was born a very long time ago, around the year 1460, in a country called Portugal. Ever since I was a little boy, I loved the big, wide ocean and dreamed of sailing on giant ships to faraway lands.
One day, in 1497, the king of Portugal asked me to go on a very important trip. He wanted me to be the first person to sail all the way from our home to a special place called India. It was a long, long way, and no one had ever done it before! I gathered my crew and our big ships, and we set off on our great adventure.
We sailed for many, many days. We saw giant waves and lots of fish. Finally, in 1498, we saw land! We had made it all the way to India. It was so exciting to see new places and meet new people. We found wonderful things there, like colorful spices to bring back home.
My trip showed everyone a new way to travel between Europe and Asia on the water. It helped people from different parts of the world share their foods and stories. I lived a long life full of adventure until 1524, and people remember me today as a brave explorer who sailed across the sea.
