Just want Vitruvius?
Hello! My name is Vitruvius. I lived a very, very long time ago in a place called Rome. I was an architect, which is a special name for someone who designs buildings. I loved to build things! I would draw pictures of big, beautiful buildings and then help people build them.
I had three special rules for every building. First, it had to be strong so it wouldn't fall down. No wibbly-wobbly buildings for me! Second, it had to be useful. A house needs a door to go in and out and windows to let the sunshine in! And my third rule was that it had to be beautiful. I wanted people to look at the buildings and say, 'Wow! That's so pretty!'.
I wanted to share my ideas with everyone. So, I wrote a big book all about building. I filled it with my drawings and my three special rules. I lived a very long time ago, but my ideas for making things strong, useful, and beautiful are still helping people build wonderful places all over the world today.
