Just want Wu Cheng'en?
Hello! My name is Wu Cheng'en. I was born in a country called China a very, very long time ago, around the year 1500. This was during a time called the Ming Dynasty. When I was a boy, my favorite thing in the whole world was stories! I loved reading books and listening to storytellers tell amazing tales about magical monkeys, powerful gods, and scary monsters. My head was always filled with exciting adventures and fantastic creatures.
When I grew up, I wanted to have an important job helping to run the country. To do this, I had to pass some very difficult tests. I studied hard for many years, but I didn't always pass. It was disappointing, but I never gave up on learning. I kept reading and started writing my own poems and stories. Writing was my way of sharing all the ideas I had in my imagination.
I decided to write a giant book filled with all the amazing myths and legends I loved as a child. I created a story about a kind monk who goes on a long and dangerous journey. But he wasn't alone! He had three special helpers: a super-strong and mischievous Monkey King named Sun Wukong, a funny pig-man with a big appetite named Zhu Bajie, and a quiet but loyal sand monster named Sha Wujing. Together, they battled demons and crossed wild lands. I called my book 'Journey to the West.' It was published for everyone to read around the year 1592, after I was gone.
I lived to be about 82 years old. Even though I couldn't see it happen, my book, 'Journey to the West,' became one of the most famous and beloved stories in all of China. Today, people all over the world still read about the Monkey King's adventures in books, watch them in movies, and play them in video games. I am so happy that my stories continue to bring joy and excitement to so many people.
