Hello. I am Zheng He. I was an explorer from a country called China. I lived a long, long time ago. I loved the big, blue sea. It was so wide and wonderful. One day, the emperor asked me to go on a very important adventure. He wanted me to sail across the great ocean. In the year 1405, my big journey began.
I had amazing ships. I called them my 'treasure ships.' They were so big. They were as big as playgrounds. Lots of my friends came with me on the ships. We all worked together. In the 1400s, we sailed and sailed across the giant ocean. We wanted to visit new places. Our job was to make new friends in faraway lands. We were kind to everyone we met. Making new friends is the best treasure.
On my trips, I saw so many wonderful things. I brought special gifts back to the emperor. My favorite gift was an animal with a super, super long neck. It was a giraffe. My adventures lasted for many years, until about the year 1433. I lived a long life. My story helps people remember to be brave explorers. It also reminds us to make friends all over the world, no matter where they live.
