Can you hear that. Thwack!. That’s the sound of a wooden bat hitting a little red ball. See the people in white clothes running on the big green field. They run back and forth between two special sets of sticks. When they do it right, everyone claps and cheers. I am a game that brings friends together outside in the sunshine. Do you know who I am. I am Cricket.

I am a very old game. I was born a long, long time ago, way back in the 16th century in a place called England. At first, children played me in fields with a crooked stick and a small ball. It was so much fun. As I grew up, more and more people wanted to play. In the year 1744, people wrote down my rules to make sure everyone played fairly. I got to travel on big ships across the ocean to new places like Australia and India, making friends all over the world.

Today, I am played by so many people. You can see players in colorful uniforms in huge stadiums, or friends just having fun in a park. I love watching teams work together to score points and help each other. I am a game about teamwork, friendship, and having a wonderful time. Whenever you see a bat and ball, remember me, and know that it’s always a great day to play together.
